This virtual event will feature presentations by Traci Bliss, Emerita Professor and author of ‘Big Basin Redwood Forest’, and Mark Hylkema, Cultural Resources Program Supervisor for California State Parks’ Santa Cruz District, and others. Bliss and Hylkema will share stories from Big Basin’s complex past that together offer a more inclusive and accurate understanding of how the landscape has been managed over time. In addition, Santa Cruz District Superintendent of California State Parks Chris Spohrer will provide an update on the Park’s current conditions and recovery efforts, and event participants will be invited to share their thoughts on the future of Big Basin.
